Head Gone!

Vandals target National Heroes Park

Monday, 28 January 2008
Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, (NSWMA), Joan Gordon-Webley, has expressed outrage at an act of vandalism at the National Heroes Circle.Vandals went on the rampage over the weekend destroying several palm trees and uprooting plants. Loss is estimated at more than $100,000. Mrs. Gordon-Webley said she is yet to find out what triggered the act. She said there is no point in talking about security, as one cannot put security outside the park.Mrs. Gordon Webley said if that happens, then security will have to be implemented every where, and there is no money for this. The NSWMA has direct responsibility for the Park's general upkeep.

So now everybody's an environmentalist ; "why would anybody do such a thing, it is so wrong, they were so beautiful" (says the uptown 'brownin'), people lamenting and bawlin over some palm trees losing their heads. Kingston's compensation for sufferation: plant some trees around "the historic heroes park" so that the tourist can come and amaze at its beauty. I suspect that is the people dem who live just across from the park chop off the tree dem head because dem read the sign dat seh "Your tax dollars at work", while dem pickney belly a bang from starvation....chop dem off yes!
